Motivation Monday?

So the other night Kyle and I were leaving Wing Warehouse and a gentleman and his girlfriend were pushing through the crowd.  This gentleman was carrying his own bar Stool into the bar.  I bet you are wondering why anyone would ever do that.  Well, this gentleman was easily over 500lbs.  Some might look at this man as motivation to change their life or as an outcast.  However, I actually learned a lot from this situation.  As this man was walking into the bar I took a second to observe the people around him.  Of course people were judging him and looking at him funny.  BUT you know what!  This situation taught me to NEVER judge someone based on appearance.  What if this person has a medical condition? What if he has had hard time in his life?  What if, what if. All I can say is this:  The man was not my motivation to hit the treadmill but my motivation to be a better person and to look into someones heart to judge them.  How would you have reacted?  Just a simple thought for the day.

Currently, I'm sitting here on the couch watching the premiere of Season 6 of The Voice.  And honestly this is the first time in a long time I have not felt guilty for collapsing on the couch after work.  Today I put in 11 hours at Enterprise with no lunch break.  I felt like a chicken with my head cut off a few times but that's just part of the job.  Although it was a long day I was very proud of myself for making it to the gym to get a good run in.  I warmed up for 5 minutes walking on the treadmill then started running for 2 minutes on and 2 minutes off. After 35 minutes I walked on an incline for 5 minutes to finish up.  Its so nice to get back into the flow of running again.  After a long day my run actually made me feel much better!

On another note, March is right around the corner.  A start of a new month means its time to reflect on this month and set new goals.  I love to look back on the things I've done over the month to see what I'm truly proud of and what I think I could have done better.  Do any of you set monthly goals?  I know I will be posting mine after I reflect.

Food wise for today I didn't really eat well at all.  This morning I had toast with peanut butter and an orange.  My morning snack was cashews and raisins.  Lunch.... well I ended up ordering Panera with my co-workers.  I need to do an anti- Panera month again.  In Jan. I managed to not eat Panera for entire month.  This was a huge accomplishment for me.  Anyways, for dinner I had 2 eggs mixed with a splash of milk, toast and 1 oz. of cheese.  It was a nice protein packed meal.

I hope you had a great Monday!  I look forward to seeing you back here again tomorrow.  I can't even begin to explain how excited I was to come home and type up my blog.  :)

Have a great night!

  1. It's great to hear of another successful day! I really enjoyed reading yours yesterday and today.

There's some great incites in the story you told at the beginning. You really don't know anyone but yourself. Your own mind and life is all you will ever truly know so judging anyone is incorrect. It's very hard not to, We all do it subconsciously whether we know it or not. The best anyone can do it to try not to do it consciously. Even when someone tells you how they are doing or how they feel, you really don't know because your not in their body. You can really only compare it to your own experiences and it's a perspective thing. You relate in what I would call a '2nd hand' way. You don't know someone else's life except from your own point of view. It can actually trippy if you really stop to think about it. Well at least to me it is. It's from my point of view. From your view, I could never say. Quite the conundrum if you think about it. Crazy.

Here's a tip, I don't know if you know or not, but stretch after your workouts, not before. I didn't know this til I started P90X3. I learned it along the way. You actually risk injuring yourself if you do it before. If you stretch with a warmed up muscle, you will be able to do better. Stretching is so beneficial and so underrated. I'll have to pull up some stretch routines if your interested. You will perform at a much higher level if you do stretching after your workouts.

As far as food, I use myfitnesspal.com to track everything I eat. It's a great tool to use. I really use it more as a guide so I can see what I'm putting into my body. It will track basically everything so you have an idea of how well your doing. Sometimes we make mistakes and think we are doing great on nutrition, when in reality its probably not as good as we would like. I currently and on going, have way too much salt in my diet. I'm trying to work on fixing that but it's hard. I had no clue of this whatsoever til I started tracking it on the website. If your not doing it, I would suggest to try it. It also can track your exercise if you choose to log it. I personally spend a lot of time on the site. It's been a great tool for me.

Alright, well I hope I haven't talked your head off, I'm only trying to add incite where I can. Have a good night. I hope to write up my own blog here soon.
