Hey everyone! Happy Wednesday!
Today seemed as if it was never ending. The stresses of Enterprise had me pulling my hair out and for the first time in a long time I was excited to get on the treadmill.
I got to the gym today and someone was on my favorite treadmill. I wont lie, I was a little salty. But I guess my name isn't on it anywhere. This treadmill is the last one in the row right next to the wall and has a great view out the window. When I run I like to pretend that I am running somewhere and having a great view really helps that.
My run today consisted of a 2 on 2 off interval for 30 minutes. After that I walked for 5 minutes then did 5 minutes of sprints. Getting back on the treadmill running at a 7.0 really made me feel awesome. I had no idea I still had it in me to run where I was a year ago. It is so awesome to see that if I put my mind to it I can really do it!
I need to start incorporating some weight training into my work plan. I know I need to but sometimes the gym is so packed it seems much easier to get my 45 minutes in and get out.
Also, yesterday I bought a new pair of running shoes!! Shin splints NO MORE! I can always tell when it is time to purchase new kicks because I get awful shin splints. Shout out to my fabulous gramma for the birthday money way back in December- you bought me Navy, Yellow and Pink running shoes.
And, I purchased a multi-vitamin. I'm excited to try them out and see how I like them.
I have been struggling with drinking lots of water. Maybe because it has been pretty crazy at work and I'm never in the office. Does anyone have any tips that work for them on getting your daily recommended amount of water? I try to drink half my body weight in ounces per day. What do you do?
Does anyone have any tips on how to wake up and get your workout in before work? I have such a hard time waking up in the morning. I'm sure it is because I am not getting enough sleep but I'm sure you know ITS HARD.
Well this is all for tonight because I am having a hard time keeping my eyes open!
Have a great night!
Brittnee
Great to see you worked hard! It's kinda cliche to say but its true... 'You gotta want it'... Water I too have a tough time with.... It's true you should drink half your body weight each day. Easier said than done. The best I can suggest is getting the biggest bottle of water you can find and loading it with ice, then top off with water. As it will be cold and it melts, you get more water in the process. Since there's very little of anything good to drink at the lanes, I have less of a problem with this. Water is the only choice I have.
ReplyDeleteAs far as waking up in the morning, Theres 2 things that keep me going to do it. Well maybe 3. Depends on how you count it. I set my alarm for a half an hour before I intend to work out. I use this half hour to wake up. Though its not the best thing to do I drink a Pepsi One. Its not great but its zero calories and made with splenda so its not the worst thing in the world. The last thing that keeps me going is accountability. I have a group that I'm accountable to so it gives me determination to get done what needs to be done.
Really the best of it is to be accountable to someone. If you have someone who you feel you have to report to, it ups the demand to to it. It works for me. I hope I have helped in some way. I look forward to reading your blog whenever you post.
Last thought, this has really done tremendous things for me, and it's hard to do but you can lose so much stress if you do it. Everytime something makes you mad, reexamine the situation. Is it really what they did to stress you or was it the fact that maybe you had to do more than you really wanted to from the start. Kinda tricky, but it has helped me to a step back and just let a lot of problems go.
Ok sorry, Kinda long now. It get going and I can't stop.
Hey Britnee,
ReplyDeleteI am friends with Jeff, but I love seeing that you are taking control of your life. I love working out in the morning because the endorphins you get just keep you going for hours and hours. Also, when you workout, the muscles are still working for hours after the workout. If you workout at night or before bed, your muscles will be looking for the nutrients to replenish and that is protein. You are not well served eating late, but if your workout is early then the food you put in will go to that recovery.
Water is always a tough one for most of us because we are so used to the "tasty" beverages. You can use any fruits or veggies to add flavor for your water, and as Jeff said, keep it cold. Cucumber, strawberrys, mint leaves, lemon, lime cherries and all kinds of things can be used to add some flavor without killing the benefit of water.
Good luck with what you are doing and remember to do your best and forget the rest!
